Black Friday offer at Tepilo knocks £180 off the usual rate

Online agent Tepilo ran a Black Friday promotion, with a saving of £180, that ended at midnight last night.

As you cannot visit the Tepilo site without being immediately invited to have a live chat, on Friday afternoon EYE asked if there had been any takers.

The helpful lady told us: “We have had many takers for our Black Friday deal, yes.”

We replied that we weren’t quite ready to put our own home up for sale, which is true.

The helpful service – so much more fun than a press office – advised: “You can sign up and put in the description when set live that you don’t want to conduct any viewings yet if you’d like.”

We said we’d think about it.

Did any other agents run Black Friday promotions? Or were you too busy shopping?

Did you try their random number generator for a valuation? I did! it was so far out  (52%) I called to query  the number  they’d suggested as an asking price.  After escalation to “someone who knows about  valuations” I was told “if you want accurate advice you have to get an RICS valuation”

It’s true I could save a few quid showing unvetted applicant around my property trouble is the cost of the bad advice would be 52%, that makes 1.8% inc vat seem cheap.

they can dislike it all they like  Much cheapness isn’t much cheapness if it costs  half the value of your home.

The comment about delaying viewings just illustrates to me their complete lack of understanding of how to sell property to achieve the best price. The most enthusiastic potential purchasers, in a market characterised by short supply, often comes from the initial ‘new to market’ surge of interest. Subduing that surge with a lack of viewing access is an appauling strategy.

It isn’t good service and most vendors would complain of lost opportunity. They want the property sold sooner than later. You only need to offer a sale when you are having difficulties.

Does “Black Friday” include the asking price of the house too?

Pay peanuts = give your house away !

Pssst: If you’re doing Black Friday deals, you’re probably not a proper estate agent.

Grow up. Housing is important and shouldn’t be treated like a George Foreman grill from Argos.
