Franchise chain AIM-listed Belvoir has appointed well-known industry figure Mark Newton as a director with immediate effect.
Newton was formerly group CEO of Newton Fallowell, a franchised network of 31 outlets across the midlands which Belvoir acquired last July.
Newton has since been responsible for the continued management and growth of both the Newton Fallowell and Goodchilds’ networks.
Newton, now 60, has an impressive pedigree, having spent 30 years working in the sector.
He spent 13 years with Black Horse Agencies and was managing director of Legal & General Estate Agents from 1997 to 1999, responsible for 80 owned and 150 franchised branches, before founding Newton Fallowell.
Belvoir chairman and CEO Mike Goddard said: “With his deep understanding of estate agency and of growing a successful franchising network, Mark’s appointment both strengthens and broadens the expertise on the Belvoir board.
“We are delighted to welcome Mark to the team and look forward to the additional benefit that his wealth of knowledge will bring as Belvoir delivers on its multi-brand strategy and value creation for shareholders.”
Congratulations Mark. A good move by Belvoir as well. I think he may add a different dimension to the board and add the strength that they need to grow their sales operation… Watch this space again! Good luck!

Congratulations! My own experience of Goodchilds was that it needed some real management who knew what they were doing. Its purchase by Belvoir and Mark Newton taking charge will help.
