In an extraordinary turn of events, an estate agent is back in business five years after selling up for family reasons – and in the same office as before.
Jonathan Waters was one of East Anglia’s most successful independents.
He started his business, of the same name, in 1992, and opened an office in Ipswich, at 625 Foxhall Road. At its peak the business employed nearly 50 staff, with six branches in Suffolk and Essex.
Waters then went on to sell the company lock, stock and barrel as a highly successful market leader in 2014, enabling Waters to become a full-time carer for his elderly mother.
Unfortunately, after the new owner ran the business for four years under the same Jonathan Waters name, it ceased trading and went into liquidation last August.
Now he’s back!
Waters has reopened in the ground floor of the same Ipswich premises, calling his new business Foxhall Estate Agents.
He has also reunited some of his original team.
A veteran of the industry, Waters started his career in estate agency in 1988 at Connells in Felixstowe.
Waters, 55, said of Foxhall Estate Agents: “It’s a new name and a new start. I was too young to retire.”
He added: “We have recommenced the delivery of the same good old-fashioned values of excellent customer service and professionalism that the company originally had and that made it so successful for so many years.”
Well done, just shows when someone turned a good successful independent estate agency, turns it into a corporate and then runs it into the grounds disregarding the qualities that got it there in the first place. Hopefully, he’ll reignite those successes.

Good luck to the man, not many would come back in to the industry as it is today.
