Back to the floor for Chestertons bosses

Senior executives are going “back to the floor” at Chestertons.

It is part of a fund-raising drive to support Kids Company, the organisation set up by Camila Batmanghelidjh to provide vital support to vulnerable inner-city children, young people and their families.

Chestertons Charity Champions is a new company-wide scheme to promote fundraising and volunteering in the aid of nominated charities.

Chestertons will match-fund individual and branch fundraising efforts, as well as offering a paid day off for all employees to get involved directly with a charitable cause of their choice by volunteering their time and professional expertise.

The first big initiative will see CEO Robert Bartlett, chief financial officer Allan Collins, and head of residential Richard Davies, work the floor” for a day.

Branch and office teams, who have already raised nearly £10,000 for Kids Company, will get to choose where the trio must ply their trade for a day, and what roles and duties they’ll undertake.

Branches that have taken part include Covent Garden which raised £900 at a pub quiz evening, and Fulham which raised £699 at an auction of items donated by friends and local businesses.

Giles Milner, Chestertons marketing director, said: “We wanted to commit to a programme of fundraising across our business that would encourage all staff to get involved and donate their time, expertise and creativity as well as their cash.”

Well done, great to hear. The industry needs more of this sort of charitable work and PR.
