Police searching for the body of Suzy Lamplugh, who has been missing for 32 years, have started digging up the former back garden of the prime suspect’s mother.
Estate agent Miss Lamplugh, 25, disappeared in 1986, having left her west London offices to meet a mystery client known only as Mr Kipper.
When she didn’t return, a huge police search was launched but no trace of her was ever found – and in 1994 she was officially declared dead, presumed murdered.
No one was ever charged with her disappearance but the prime suspect was John Cannan.
Now police are digging up the garden of his mother’s old home in Sutton Coldfield. It is thought they are acting on fresh information.
The news should act as a prompt to agents to ensure that their own safety procedures are kept under review and that their own staff are made to feel as safe as possible.
I really hope this leads to an answer, particularly for the family and friends of Suzy. However, considering the naming of the suspect for many years, why has this never been done before?

The only reason I can think of is that he was not living there at the time, and there was nothing to suggest that the ground at his mothers house had been disturbed… I’m not disagreeing btw, just saying maybe that’s why. Probably should have been considered though.

Agreed…..such a shame both of her parents died without ever knowing what happened to her.
