ARLA becomes accreditation provider in Boris scheme

ARLA has become an accreditation provider for the London Rental Standard (LRS).

The LRS is a voluntary set of minimum standards that the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, expects of letting agents who operate in London’s private rented sector.

Over the coming days, ARLA licensed agents operating in the capital will be contacted and invited to join the scheme.

David Cox, ARLA managing director, said: “ARLA is proud to become a London Rental Standard accreditation provider as we believe in the highest professional standards for letting agents.

“It will only be through qualification and ongoing professional development, backed up by appropriate regulation, that we will eliminate the rogue landlords and agents who blight our industry.

“The LRS is a new approach to help tenants rent with confidence.

“Therefore, we fully support this step towards a more regulated industry in London and urge all agents to get involved with the LRS, as together we can build a better, stronger private rented sector.”
