Josh Rayner, CEO of Rayner Personnel, has gone viral on LinkedIn with a tongue-in-cheek post clarifying that “Angela Rayner isn’t my sister”.
PR agent Russell Quirk posted a message last week stating that Angela Rayner, the now former deputy PM and housing secretary, was Josh Rayner’s sister.
In response to the false claim, Josh Rayner posted over the weekend: “Well… my LinkedIn has officially blown up thanks to Russell Quirk casually dropping in that Angela Rayner is my sister. 2,654-plus profile views later, I can safely confirm: she isn’t. 😅
“And just to clear it up I won’t be taking her CV either… 😉”
The marketing stunt has gone on to attract more than 150,000 views, thousands of reactions, and has already led to increased inbound inquiries for Josh Rayner’s recruitment business.
Josh Rayner said: “Recruitment is about people, visibility and standing out. Social media can be a crowded place, so I wanted to put out something light-hearted that would cut through the noise. The response has been overwhelming, and it’s already opened the door to new conversations and business opportunities.”
“The viral moment has also driven a significant increase in profile visits and inbound inquiries for Rayner Personnel, highlighting how creative, tongue-in-cheek marketing can translate into tangible commercial outcomes.”
Rayner added: “We take our clients’ recruitment needs seriously – but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. This post shows the power of mixing personality with business in a way that connects.”
