Weston Homes won the most coveted prize at the 2025 WhatHouse? Awards at a glittering gala lunch at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel in London.
The awards, presented by television presenter Gabby Logan in front of 1,200 industry professionals, saw Weston Homes, based in Essex, win the blue riband Housebuilder of the Year title, as well as Gold for Best Medium Housebuilder.
Bob Weston, chairman and founder of Weston Homes, said: “I have never lost my enthusiasm for homebuilding, whether it’s renovating older properties or building new. Nor have I forgotten how big a step and how much sacrifice is involved in saving for a new home. Which is why this family business will always look after buyers, finding ways to ensure they get as much pleasure as possible from their home and by making them accessible to as many people as possible.
“Customers are our number one priority. Our reputation and ability to keep building homes rests with satisfying them completely.”
Weston Homes also took gold for Best Starter Home and Best Energy Efficient Home, as well as silver in the Best Sustainable Development category.
Best Large Housebuilder Gold went to the Berkeley Group, which also won Gold in three other categories: Best Development (St James), Best Mixed-Use Development (St George) and Best Regeneration Scheme (Berkeley Homes).
The Hill Group won gold for Best Sustainable Development and Best House.
Other Gold winners were Fernham Homes (Best Small Housebuilder), Churchill Living (Best Retirement Home Developer), Vistry Group and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (Best Partnership Scheme), Amara Property (Best Luxury House), Excel Winner (Best Luxury Development), NHG Homes (Best Renovation), Bellway (Best Exterior Design), Abbey New Homes (Best Interior Design), Thakeham Homes (Best Placemaking), Dandara Living (Best Build to Rent Developer) and Quintain Living (Best Apartment Scheme).
Rupert Bates, editorial director of What House? and Show House, said: “Now in their 45th year, the Awards were once again a magnificent celebration of the very best new homes in Britain. It has been an incredibly tough year for the housebuilding industry and to continue to deliver such high-quality homes is testament to their hard work and passion for what they do.”
“There are few British industries that can affect such positive change economically and socially. The best housebuilders, large and small, supported by an outstanding and committed supply chain, are a force for so much good and the catalyst for growth that this country desperately needs.
“Many congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all our sponsors and judges and everybody who attended the biggest day in the housebuilding calendar.”
