Agents urged to consider using PropTech tools to automate key tasks

Lettings agents are being urged to consider using PropTech tools to help streamline their processes and better engage with potential tenants and landlords.

Richard Combellack, COO at BriefYourMarket, part of nurtur.group, in a bid to drum up more business for his firm’s key products, has put forward the case for why more agents should use PropTech tools to automate key tasks, such as applicant qualification, data collection, and improved communication.

Combellack argues that PropTech elements exist which provide an efficient solution for automating tenant applicant enquiries, with a view to qualifying potential tenants, “saving time and effort for agents”.

He says autoresponder and chatbot features, available across several brands, can be utilised for cross-selling opportunities, presenting additional services such as rent protect insurance policies during the qualification process.

“This approach enhances revenue generation and maximises the potential of each interaction with prospective tenants,” he added.

Combellack notes that PropTech products, such as those offered by BriefYourMarket and Dataloft, can also assist in gathering valuable landlord intelligence.

He continued: “During the qualification process, lettings agents can utilise the automated system to identify if applicants are currently tenants elsewhere or if they have potential vendor opportunities. This valuable information can be used to target specific landlord segments and increase the likelihood of successful engagements.”

Rory Black from Dataloft Inform commented: “Landlords are already knowledgeable about the property market and only want to work with agents who can demonstrate that they know even more.”

He added: “Through streamlined applicant qualification, cross-selling opportunities, efficient data building, and improved communication, lettings agents can optimise their operations, save time, and increase revenue. By harnessing the power of automation and intelligent data integration, agents can gain a competitive edge and deliver exceptional service in the dynamic lettings industry.”

Sounds like more work I don’t need. Now if someone could come up with a simplified rent collection/distributing, accounting programme that works, and cost effective, that would be a big game changer for agents. The ones I have seen only moved the goal posts into their pockets and certainly not more effective.

Many IT solutions are great but half the problem with IT, is they are gimmicks, programmes written that ‘they think are the best’, but in practice over priced and no understanding of how it should work from the clients point of view. That’ll ruffle a few IT feathers, but true.

Bob Scarff commented a few years ago that he had encountered a host of IT solutions in search of a problem.

Might be that this is another one to add to his list
