An estate agent is offering sellers the chance of either a blue or a red sales board – to show solidarity with local football fans.
Mr Homes estate agent has three offices in Cardiff where a fierce controversy is ranging over a change of kit for Cardiff City.
Club owner Vincent Tan has changed the strip from blue to red – despite the nickname of the team being the Bluebirds. Even the club’s official website has turned red.
He is so far refusing to change back again, despite enduring a nightmare season ending in relegation for the side – and for which his rebrand is getting most of the blame.
This has inspired local agent and lifelong Bluebirds fan Anthony Parris to change at least some of his company’s branding from red to blue. As well as signs, he has had a company car repainted in blue.
Parris, a director at Mr Homes, said: “Simply put, customers now have a choice of red or blue boards. Our staff and customers are divided over the branding at Cardiff City, so now they have a choice.”
He said existing vendors have asked for blue replacement signs as a way of showing their feelings. Bluebird fans have also taken to Twitter to express their appreciation of the agent’s actions.
Parris said that if more customers choose blue, the firm could even change its entire brand – no small task, as everything from the logo to the website and the office fascias are red.
He said: “Business and sport should unite people as fans and customers alike. There is no place for divided loyalty in either.”
