An agent has been hit with a bill for over £1,000 after being prosecuted for putting up illegal boards.
SureLet and SureSale, of Hemel Hempstead, pleaded guilty at Watford Magistrates Court to two offences.
The boards were not displayed on land or property for sale.
SureLet was issued a £700 fine and ordered to pay the council’s costs of £325.50, plus a victim surcharge of £40.
Dacorum Borough Council previously warned the company about unlawful boards, resulting in a formal caution for similar offences earlier this year.
Cllr Graham Sutton, portfolio holder for planning and regeneration, said: “Unlawfully sited estate agents’ boards are misleading, unsightly and can be visually distracting to motorists.”
The full story is in the local paper
It’s that Juggernaut called LEGISLATION/REGULATION again. This time its taken out some agency boards, simply as the agent didn’t know the Town & Country Planning Act, or chose to ignore it.
The regulators are going to be getting a lot hotter. Legislation can be an agents best friend or worst enemy (after ignorance that is).

Another great selling point for the NAEA!
Remind me again why is anybody a member?
Surely you can print your own shinny sticker to place in the window that means squat!

I loved the 90’s in London – there were SO many flyboards.
I miss the good old days!
