From today, agents are being asked to sign up to this year’s Great British Property Cycle by nominating a local hospice.

The centrepiece event will be a marathon bike ride between 100 hospices over 14 days in August.

Each hospice visited will receive a sizeable donation from the Agents Giving charity and each will be nominated by those agents who commit to fundraising.

In all, an estimated 1,000 miles will be cycled during the two-week period and it is hoped that more than £250,000 will be raised.

The full cycle convoy will be led by Agents Giving chairman Peter Knight, with agents able to join in by cycling a few miles to their nominated hospice, or completing a longer stretch of the route – or, of course, all of it.

Agents can also get involved by nominating a hospice they would like the convoy to visit and present with a cheque.

Agents Giving is asking those who would like to do this to raise at least £2,500 for their nominated hospice. The charity will then work with them to provide fundraising ideas and support.

Some agents have already nominated a hospice.

For example Thorgills, west London lettings specialist, has nominated the Mulberry Centre which provides support and information for anyone affected by cancer.

Similarly Kevin Parson from Parson’s estate agents in East Anglia has nominated St Nicholas Hospice Care, based in Bury St Edmunds, which provides practical, medical and spiritual support to local people and their families living with an illness that is life threatening. He will also be taking part in the bike ride.

Ravensworth, partner and loyal supporter of Agents Giving, has nominated St Oswald’s Hospice, and Ashtons Estate Agents has chosen the Isabel Hospice.

Peter Knight, chairman of Agents Giving, said: “The Great British Property Cycle has always been an extremely popular event in the Agents Giving calendar and raised significant sums of money for Agents Giving’s supported charities. We are hoping this year, with a bit of a revamp, the event will be better than ever before.

“I would like to take this opportunity to really encourage as many people to take part as possible, whether this is through nominating a hospice, taking part in the cycle ride itself or both.

“This year’s event will truly give you a first-hand experience of what we are raising money for as you will visit the hospices and meet the people you are helping.”
