An international property portal has said that it will always be free to list.
Residential People said that the model, which allows agents to list an unlimited number of properties, is viable.
The portal, which launched last March and now operates across seven countries including the UK, says that it does not need to generate income from listings. Nor does it harvest or sell data to the highest bidder.
It says that its income is generated through banner advertising, featured listings and “various other marketing features that are completely optional, value-added propositions”, including a video generator.
Director Christopher May said: “While agents who list on Rightmove are being charged over £1,000 per branch, and other portals charge a monthly fee – regardless of how many sales are made – agents on Residential People are able to receive and convert leads completely free, making joining the portal a win-win situation.
“As a progressive platform, we are always interested to hear the views of agents regarding the struggles they face in today’s market.
“Residential People was created with agents in mind, and so we are more than happy to listen, collaborate and support agencies in order to build a strong platform to benefit the property sector.”
Residential People and its sister portal Commercial People claim to have over 900,000 listings with over 5,000 agents on board including Belvoir, Keller Williams and Stirling Ackroyd.
The countries in which the portals are active are the UK, UAE, Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan and South Africa.
