A new property lettings and management platform is rolling out its service after buying a letting and estate agency to test it out.
Herddle, a proptech start-up, acquired long-established Alan Ives, in Plumstead, south London, as a live business with existing landlords and tenants, to trial the service for two years in its development and testing phase.
Herddle claims that its app-based service has major benefits for agents, landlords and tenants, dealing with everything from contracts to rent collection, bank statements, referencing, renewals and maintenance requests and management.
The system sets out to replace a paper trail of calls, emails, quotes and permission through its platform.
Billy Farrant, managing director at Alan Ives, said of the trial: “It has taken a lot of hard work and a leap of faith to replace our paper files and records with a single platform. But it has brought tremendous rewards for all of us.
“The transparency simplifies our dealings with our landlords and tenants as well as being a huge advantage for our contractors.
“The future of property management starts here and we are delighted to have become the pioneers of it.”
Herddle was created by father and daughter team James fforde and Jess Ford.
Jess resigned from her investment banking role after seven years to pursue the creation of Herddle.
Her father, a chartered accountant, is also a landlord and has developed several businesses from scratch, including UniLodge, a student accommodation provider.
The Herddle system charges 10% plus VAT for full tenant find and managing services. It is initially rolling out across London and the south-east.
Alan Ives now heads its website as “Alan Ives powered by herddle”. Jess Ford is now a director of the agency.
