Police warn: ‘Let case be a lesson to any agent who fails to protect financial interests of clients’

Thames Valley Police have put out a statement about Andre Montaut, the agent who stole tenants’ deposits and lied to My Deposits about the amount of money in his bank.

Montaut, who ran his own agency at the time, has now been jailed for a total of two years and one month.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Ashley Ruane, of Banbury Local CID, said: “Montaut breached the trust placed in him by his clients.

“He has shown little remorse for his victims throughout the investigation which has ultimately cost him freedom.

“Let this be a lesson to any estate agents who fail to protect the financial interests of their clients for their own benefit.”

Well done Thames Valley,  but a rare prosecution against a Criminal Agent or Landlord is  only eclipsed by the almost NEVER prosecution of Criminal Tenants.
‘ Even-handed ‘ ?  doesn’t even begin to describe the lottery of  justice.
