A car crashed through the shopfront of an estate agents – fortunately before opening hours. Staff who arrived for business showed their mettle simply by getting on with their work after helping to clear up the shocking aftermath.
Graphic pictures show that anyone working at the desk near the window at the time of the crash would probably have had only the narrowest of escapes. Anyone looking at properties in the window would have been in serious danger.
The incident happened at Woodlands Estates, in Horsham, West Sussex.
Owner David Jeffrey said: “It was all a bit of a shock.
“The ‘gent’ who did this drove in to our window at 5.45am on Saturday morning. He stopped, got out, spoke to one of the bin collectors, got back in and drove off.
“We have spoken to the bin man but sadly the police were not interested although they sent out a fire engine to check that the structure of the building was ok, which it is. We now have to claim on our insurance .
“The public have been fantastic, everyone has been supportive.
“We joke that it was a client who did not like our valuation of his property.
“We had a clear-up on Saturday, and then got someone out to do a temporary fix, but as we had a full diary we just got on with it.”
I hope they can quickly return to ‘driving’ a fantastic sales result.
