Forget the Oscars, agents have been in the spotlight at both the Guild of Property Professionals’ and Fine & Country awards.
Both brands held their own conference and awards on consecutive days at the QEII Centre in London last week.
The Guild awards were hosted by Channel 4 presenter Rachel Riley and named Brighton agent Sawyer & Co as the best letting agency in the south-east for the second year in a row.
It completed a hat-trick of awards at the event for the agent, which also picked up a silver award for best sales agency in the south-east and bronze for best overall Guild lettings agent of the year.
Chris Sawyer, director of Sawyer & Co, said: “I’m so proud of each and every one of our team. Everyone has worked extremely hard to deliver such consistent award-winning standards.
“We’ve been lucky enough to win a number of awards in the last few days. I get the feeling that nobody will become complacent – everyone will keep finding ways of raising the bar.”

Another week… another set of awards. Another batch of ‘Bests’
Of course, SOME of the winners have won other awards on other stages.
Although I’ve been on one of those stages… and have a few trophies in my cabinet from past Corporate life… I’m not a personal fan of these things – as I’ve expressed opinion before.
But hopefully they act as a motivator to those in the crowd watching the winners take their medals.
I agree with your comment, Woodentop, but in fairness (New Years resolution…) these awards represent their Members, which is all they can judge.
Same reason I would suggest that O2 don’t give EE staff praise or awards for great performance at their yearly bash.
Well done to the winners – and hopes that those that didn’t make it this year up their game for the coming year!
That way – the industry and its’ customers all win too!
Regards, mon ami!

Agreed, I wasn’t being anti-Guild, I have always strived to support all agents, (unless they step out of line). Well done to those that took part, not just the medal winners. It would be just nice to see all agents thrown into the pot without restrictions, the results might just be amazing and earn the right to say “We were the best”. That would be the Oscars of Estate Agency.

I didn’t think you were, Woodentop. You’re one of the most reasoned posters here on EYE – one whose opinion and input I value highly.
I agree with what you’re saying – unfortunately it is highly unlikely it will never happen.
As far as the ‘Oscars of estate Agency’ – I would suggest ‘Tonys’ be more appropriate…
…judging by the number in our industry simply playing at it.
