Eye is today launching a survey on the rates paid by agents to the portals.
You will be getting your copy of the survey later on today, so please watch out for this industry first.
We are doing it as a service to agents in the interests of delivering transparency to what has become an increasingly opaque issue.
Our move comes partly because there does not seem to be a rate card for the existing main portals, and because – from comments and from what evidence we have seen – we are aware of the very different amounts being paid.
With OnTheMarket launching on January 26, for a number of agents who have committed to the new portal, decision time is fast approaching.
Which is the one other portal that they will use?
For those agents not going with OnTheMarket, the question of portal charges is still a crucial issue.
The Eye survey runs until the end of this month and we will report on the results as soon as we can afterwards.
The information we bring you then may well have a bearing on your decisions.
It should enable you to know whether you are paying over the odds – or whether you are paying a fair price, or have even achieved something of a bargain.
The survey will be asking for your name and that of your agency. However, we give you our word that this information will remain totally confidential and will never be shared with any third party, in any circumstance.
We are requesting this information only so that the survey can be seen to be fully bona fide, with answers from estate and letting agents only.
We do ask for your support – the survey should not take long to complete – because the more responses we have, the fuller and more accurate report we will be able to bring you.
