Agents have been alerted to a security threat after being sent links to a fake log-in at Rightmove. Rightmove has also warned agents to be vigilant as there may be further attempts.
Rightmove sent out an email warning them – but some agents were concerned that the warning email that they have have received could be another fake.
However, Rightmove confirmed to EYE that it has sent out a warning email, that it is genuine, and has now had the fake log-in page removed.
A spokesperson for Rightmove told us: “The link to the fake page is sent to agents after they follow up on a lead sent to them through Rightmove.
“Our system would strip out any attempts to send links and attachments from the initial lead that is sent to agents so the fraudsters send it to them when the agent is using their own email system to reply.”
The email, headed “Security alert”, urges agents to change their passwords if they use the same one to log in to both Rightmove Plus as well as their email address or other sites.
It warns agents to be extra cautious with any emails that contain links or attachments “that may ask you to log in to a fake Rightmove plug login page”.
The email goes on: “We’re aware of some agents who have been sent a link to a fake login page, after they followed up on a lead they received from Rightmove.
“We’ve had this page taken down and have blocked the sender from sending any leads through Rightmove but we want to make sure you continue to be extra vigilant as there may be further attempts.”
The email agents have received has reproduced poorly below, but looks like this:
Ahhhhh that’s nice, Rightmove want to make sure we’re cyber safe before making us all go bust with their extortionate charges.
The irony being that RM is the biggest threat to our well being?

I thought you were going to talk about making us cyber safe whilst letting 3rd party companies use our data for their own commercial use without our consent

Its a joke, my ‘Account Manager’ cannot return calls for a week. The amount i pay them i expect better service.
I think this is our third account manager in as many years. She has probably been off sick for 6 months.

As ???ron, my former Rightmove Account Manager reads this ? start to panic in case I mention ? by name! lol
Anyway ? spent over 10 Years b@llsh!tting me about Rightmove, it’s products and why I should buy their extras.
Our personal friendship endured and I bought no extras! ever!! So, ? then announces ? is leaving Rightmove and joining OTM….. I know, I know …….you’re all thinking surely ? wouldn’t swap teams and then simply slip on a new jersey? …….of course ? did!
My friendship endures despite hearing about all the negativity re Rightmove and how bad they were to work for!
The one thing I couldn’t forgive was the fact that when I repeatedly said ? was a World Class Rightmove B&llsh!tter when ? was working for them ? denied it and sang their praises! ……..and of course, it did indeed turn out to be complete b@llsh!t!
Anyway Rightmove, Wrongmove, Nomove….. Villains!

I see this all the time, on Linkedin – People saying how wonderful the company is, how nobody is better. Then they change jobs and they say the same thing all over again!
I am not saying as an employee you slate the company you work for but at least engage brain before mouth and think how this is going to look in the future.
The worst of the bunch at the moment is the Countrywide and lot – All saying how amazing it was under Alison Platt (when she was there) Now all saying how amazing it is (without her there) and we all know its not!
