Ex-Hamptons director Marc Goldberg lands a new role at fast-growing independent

One of estate agency’s most high-profile and successful  figures Marc Goldberg has joined London firm Dexters.

Goldberg had been head of sales and executive director at Hamptons International at his time of leaving the Countrywide flagship brand.

There, he had been responsible for the 89-branch network across London and south-east England.

His departure in September 2016, after 30 years with Hamptons, sent disbelieving shockwaves through the London agency sector.

The departure was said to be Goldberg’s own decision, amid a restructure within Hamptons. Countrywide acquired Hamptons in 2010.

While Goldberg had spent a long time at Hamptons, because he started so young before climbing the ranks, he is still only in his early fifties.

At Dexters, he has now taken up the role of central London managing director, based out of the Mayfair showroom.

Local to north London, Goldberg is also assisting in the transition of Benham & Reeves Sales following its February acquisition by Dexters.

Goldberg said: “Dexters’ unique culture means the company avoids the usual ‘head office’ approach. I anticipate Dexters being at the forefront of London property and I am very excited to have joined them.”

Dexters was founded by Jeff Doble – now chairman – 25 years ago and has grown to 35 offices in central London and over 70 across the capital.

Andy Shepherd, Dexters CEO, said: “Ninety per cent of our managers and directors are trained and promoted from within.

“However, due to continued planned growth throughout London, we have exciting opportunities for the best talent in the business to join this exciting company, and we’re thrilled that Marc has joined us.

“As we continue to invest in growth and development, we’re a unique proposition for anyone that wants a life-long career.

“We invest in long-term relationships, so staff stay with us through their careers. We’re proud that we retain over 90% of senior staff year-on-year.”
