Arun Estates boss raises £70,000 in marathon bike ride

David Lench, boss of Arun Estates, has raised an astonishing £70,000 – and counting – for charity after cycling 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The marathon was supported by Agents Giving.

The money will go to Action Medical Research and CHYPS, a charity which provides hospice-at-home support for chronically-ill children across north and west Kent.

Accompanying Lench on the ride was Kevin Hafner, who runs a period property restoration company in Kent.

Lench said: “We rode around 70 miles a day for the best part of two weeks, with just two rest days.

“The biggest test of all was the climbs – often 5,000 to 6,000 feet in a day.”

“Day 7 was the day we covered 68 miles and climbed 7,200 feet. That was really tough. Then, to cap it all, we arrived at our B&B for the night to discover that Fulham had suffered their fifth defeat in six games!”
