Welcome to the latest edition of the Landlords Barometer.
Here are the latest topics that have got landlords talking. Unsurprisingly, many of our topics revolve around the state of the private rented sector and the pain being caused by onerous landlord taxation.
1. Section 24 harming levels of house building
A major house builder has blamed, in part, recent tax increases on private landlords as a reason for not increasing its housebuilding.
2. Massive silver lining to give landlords hope?
Buried deep in a BBC article about institutional investors entering the private rented sector was a glimmer of hope for small private landlords that their days may not be numbered.
3. Markets are moving – as they say “All change”
This discussion is about a potential market correction and whether landlords should consider selling up now.
4. New way of buying and selling tenanted properties
Vesta is a new trading platform for the buying and selling of properties with tenants in situ, blocks of flats, and entire portfolios. In this video interview I speak to Vesta CEO Russell Gould about the proposition and how it is going to assist landlords throughout their lifecycle.
5. Three quarters of landlords will sell – claim
New research suggests that a growing number of private landlords are planning to exit the buy-to-let market, prompting fears that rents will rise sharply as the number of homes available to rent falls.
6. Advice needed for 27-year-old newbie
This lady wants to go full time in property and realises that becoming a lettings agent would be a good way to get an understanding of the sector. Some great
encouragement and advice is shared.

And finally …
I am very happy to report that Property Tribes was worthy of mention in the ongoing Government research into the private rented sector via their landlord survey.
Landlords were asked where they got their property information from. One of the options was “Property Forums i.e. Property Tribes”.
