Landlords’ Barometer — #56: Why the market is becoming more unforgiving

Welcome to the latest edition of the “Landlords’ Barometer”.

This year has got off to a very busy start for the private rented sector, and we’ve had lots of discussions over the past month reflecting this.

1. Review of BBC “Panorama” programme about Section 21 “no fault” evictions

2. Opinion: The market is becoming more unforgiving

3. Changes to HMO regulations

4. A sign of the Section 24 times? There has been a dramatic 80% slump in buy to let lending

5. EPCs now affecting mortgages and lending

6. Labour say pets should be a “default” position

Event news:

The Northern edition of the NALS Annual Conference is taking place in York on March 7.

The theme is “Regulation. Innovation. Inspiration” and, having attended myself on several occasions, I can vouch that it is a really valuable day out for anyone with an interest in the private rented sector.

More details and tickets available here.

The National Landlord and Investment Show is taking place at Olympia in London on March 15.

Tickets are FREE and there are lots of seminars, debates, and networking.

More information and free tickets available here.

I also recently did an interview with another EYE columnist, Ed Mead.
