Online agent Yopa was also reported to the advertising watchdog, with the case resolved informally.
A spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority said: “We received a complaint that challenged whether a mailing by Yopa Property Ltd exaggerated the possible savings a customer would receive when using its service.
“We approached the advertiser about the concerns that had been raised.
“They have agreed to remove the claims from future ads and were advised to seek copy advice from the Committee of Advertising Practice.”
Informal resolution…blah, blah, blah. The ASA’s favourite term.
Essentially, say what you want, print what you want, broadcast what you want – because the only recourse will be a slap on the wrist and all will be resolved informally. Forever.
