Rightmove to launch new market intelligence feature

Rightmove has confirmed it is making a series of upgrades to all areas of RightmovePlus, the suite of management and reporting tools that agents use on a daily basis.

A spokesperson said: “The major upgrades are based on extensive feedback from our members. Since the rollout started a few weeks ago, we have received positive feedback from a number of customers.”

The upgrades enable Rightmove agents to:

• Upload properties and administer products more quickly

• Better understand their performance and competitive position in their local market

• Strengthen how they market their services in the home

The first stage of the upgrade is a new area called Rightmove Admin, specifically dedicated to property and product administration, which is currently being rolled out to customers and will be completed by the end of September.

Rightmove Admin contains all of the tools required to manually upload or edit a property or a product as easy and as fast as possible.

The second stage of the upgrade, Rightmove Intel, is currently in development and will be rolled out by the end of the year.

The spokesperson said: “It is being shaped by meetings and feedback from a number of our customers to ensure that it delivers the most useful tools.

“The new tools will offer improved ways of measuring market share and benchmarking against competitors, and it will be available at no additional cost to all of our customers.”

Until Rightmove Intel launches, the existing services and reports – such as the Rightmove Agent Competitor Analysis and Best Price Guide – will still be available in the usual areas in RightmovePlus.

No mention if RM intend to increase charges even further to pay for these advances!
Try questioning how they calculate "click-through"rates (CTR) currently – their answers beggar belief! (including: "CTR doesn't include tablet or mobile devices"

This will boil down to preferences. I use Zoopla pro relatively rarely but rm plus daily, as do my teams. This increased functionally may suit the smallest of agents who do not have either their own website or an operating system such as REAPIT.

Sorry am I missing something? Why does it matter if you use Reapit?

So this is intended to be rolled out just before AM / OTM kicks off. Amazing coincidence. As my old Geography teacher used to say “Too little. Too late”. What’s stopping AM having the same features? Nothing.

So let's get this right – we provide our content to RM & Zoopla, who charge us several hundreds of pounds each month, so that they can then sell us/hook us in with a "market intelligence tool" to help us understand market share and (most importantly) poach instructions from other agents !?! – Brilliant !
Personally I use savvyagent – same tool….but at least it's independent.

Agree….this is more of RM deciding that the best way they can serve agents is continue to provide them with tools to set agent against agent, in the same way they will continue to sell bigger advertising boxes for more money to make agents who don't buy them look smaller….The quicker there is a viable alternative the better.

Pit agent against agent .. Please Wilko, we've been doing that since Sir Tim Berners Lee was in nappies… Not sure how competition between estate agents in now the portals fault . Did they also spill your pint or look at your wife?

I didn't say that it was the portals fault that there is competition between agents. I just wish that Rightmove would spend the money on increased advertising campaigns to bring more viewers to the site to view our property that we list with them rather than spend money on creating touting tools and developing ideas on how they can offer bigger listings for more cash to make other agents listings appear insignificant.RM is a good site but it's sole aim(now it is established) is to increase revenue from us(for shareholders) rather than attract more people to view our listings, which is a shame.

You sound surprised that RM are out to make as much profit as they can from us. Don't get me wrong, we're all here to make a profit, but when RM make more money out of my business than I do, something is wrong. My mates answer is "Sell more property" …. amazing, that thought had never occurred to me (I'm being sarky) but I'm working flat out as it is, and I can't create buyers out of thin air.
