Lots of action in the auction salerooms

Auction House says it is entering the highest number of lots to be sold at auction in one month since the height of the recession in 2008.

Over 600 residential and commercial instructions are due to be auctioned in 27 sales across England, Scotland and Wales during July.

According to the Essential Information Group, this is the highest monthly figure recorded by a UK auctioneer for six years.

Auction House founding director Roger Lake said: “Strong listings in our core areas and growth in others have come together to make it our busiest month ever.

“The regional auctions message is certainly getting through loud and clear: selling local properties to local buyers at higher prices through regional auction rooms is the future.

“Auction House in Scotland has 88 lots listed, the North-West catalogue has 117 entries, and we have 86 lots in a joint Cumbria and North-East catalogue. There are 72 in our London sale and 56 for East Anglia.”

The group has also seen its sales rise by 11% in the first six months of 2014. A total of 1,253 lots were sold between January and June, raising more than £153m through its network of 38 auction rooms.
