Letting agency ‘not registered for redress’ under investigation, says local paper

A letting agency is being probed by Trading Standards, which is bringing enforcement action against it.

London Corporate Apartments, which manages properties across London, is being investigated following a tenant’s complaint about a mouse infestation at a property in Stoke Newington.

It has emerged that London Corporate Apartments is not registered with a redress scheme.

According to the Hackney Citizen, LCA said it was in the process of renewing its membership.

However, only The Property Ombudsman has any record of the company and it is not on its list of renewals.

A TPO spokesperson said that London Corporate Apartments registered with it in May 2015 but its membership was terminated last August due to non-payment.

The tenant who complained also told the local paper that she will take the company to court if it does not pay back her full deposit, although the paper reports that the company will fight back.

London Corporate Apartments is based in NW2 and yesterday evening, a spokesperson for Tower Hamlets told EYE: “Tower Hamlets Council is aware of LCA. We are currently taking enforcement action, which has been appealed by LCA but for legal reasons we cannot comment further until the appeal has been heard.”

Clearly this firm don’t have quite the same legal muscle and finance to bully the press as another firm I know of in a similar situation

Please ban these rogue agents who practice, rent to rent, lease options, agent to agent to agent instructions… you give good agents such a bad name.
