Property software firm VTUK is continuing to get support from its staff and friends in the industry as it aims to raise money for urgent research into breast cancer – the wife of their boss has a rare form of it.
Yesterday, three of VTUK’s closest industry friends were taking on the Three Peaks challenge. The participants, Samantha Nicholson, Leanne Collins and Donna Riordan, teamed up to climb the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland within 24 hours.
VTUK is fundraising on behalf of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Cancer Vaccine Institute throughout 2014.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is currently funding a trial specifically targeted at Triple Negative Breast Cancer, while the Cancer Vaccine Institute uses immunotherapy as part of its fight against the disease.
Peter Grant, VTUK’s chief executive, said: “We’re simply overwhelmed by the show of support from our work colleagues and industry friends.
“We have been fighting against this horrific disease since my wife, Claire, was first diagnosed three years ago.
“It’s an aggressive form of cancer that’s unresponsive to standard hormone treatments, which is why it’s imperative that funding is targeted at finding new forms of treatment.”

Meanwhile, another recent event in aid of a very good cause was a London to Brighton bike ride to raise money for research into pancreatic cancer which claimed the life of Northwood’s former managing director, Nick Cooper, last August.
