A property reviews website is to embark on a crowdfunding round this week, hoping to raise £200,000 as it builds its offering to letting agents.
Movem currently specialises in student rentals, and reviews letting agents, landlords and accommodation in over 95 towns and cities in the UK.
However, it is planning to open up to the whole lettings sector.
The site was founded by Peter Ramsey in 2013 after he lost hundreds of pounds on seemingly fraudulent deposit deductions.
He started it as a housing reference site in Bournemouth.
Ramsey says it has since brought major benefits to landlords and agents, as it helps them strengthen their reputation and attracts the best tenants to contact them.
He says the new Movem version is not only designed for the general lettings market – ie for every agent, landlord and tenant in the UK – but allows tenants to opt in to be recommended by previous landlords and agencies.
Tenants can also say whether they would use an agent or landlord they have previously used.
Ramsey told EYE: “We now have 100-plus letting agents on our waiting list for our new release.”
The pitch is likely to go live on Crowdcube tomorrow or Wednesday.
