The press are currently marvelling at a car parking space in central London which has apparently just come on to the market at £350,000.
In fact, Knight Frank listed the 19.5ft by 8ft space over a month ago and it remains unsold – although we suppose someone might be trying to drive a hard bargain for it.
The price tag is over half the average price of a newly-listed home in London, and nearly £50,000 more than the national average asking price now being quoted by Rightmove.
The space is in London W2, just behind Hyde Park Gardens, and is described by Knight Frank as “a rare opportunity to purchase a private parking space for one car”.
The space – and it is just that, not a garage – is on a lease with 88 years to run.
It is easily the most expensive car parking space currently being advertised in the UK. The second dearest is in Edinburgh, for a mere £85,000.

I wondered why it was so cheap at only £350,000 but then I saw that it only has 88 years of lease left. Just imagine what it would cost freehold.

A house? You could literally buy my street for that.
