Pile on the Pounds! What do you think of this agent’s marketing exercise?

How many agents actively use footers – at the bottom of their emails – as part of their marketing?

We ask after getting an email from Simon Bradbury, of Thomas Morris.

We received this email on a completely different subject: We were simply struck by the bold footer.

It says: “Pile on the Pounds! Let us find you a buyer while record house prices are being achieved”.

EYE – with the words seeming very timely after our usual post-Christmas bulge – asked for more information, and found that similarly themed email footers are used across the different Thomas Morris offices, and all linked to an appropriate item on the website.

Bradbury says the firm changes its footers about every three months.

Each footer is supported by newspaper advertising, leaflets, postcards, window displays, press coverage and other promotions items as appropriate.

Bradbury told EYE: “My view is that, considering their massive reach and target audience, email footers are an extremely cost effective marketing tool – often overlooked by estate agents.”

EYE would love to know what our readers’ own favourite footers are.

Hmm, we have been using our email signatures for marketing since 2009 and we change them regularly (every 4-6 weeks)…I’m not sure how innovative and new this is!

“At Thomas Morris our award winning service means that your property shouldn’t stay on our books for too long!”

‘shouldn’t’, ‘too long’… Jesus, try and look them in the eye, Thomas.

Question is “What do I think”

Its a good idea, lots of agents use it already. As for the advert itself a good message but poor presentation. Red is not a good marketing colour and the font is a little aggressive

Nice one Simon as ever. Clever play on words and certainly eye-catching and the ironic humour goes a long way. The great thing about the British is our self-deprecating sense of humour! How often do we read the small print on an email signature as well? Why not try the following and see how it raises a smile if and when anyone bothers to read it:
