Website stands by its claim of just 386,000 homes currently for sale

The website Home has stood by its figure, reported yesterday in EYE, that there are currently just 386,000 properties for sale across England and Wales.

Some critics doubted the figure, with Henry Pryor saying on Twitter that Zoopla listed 422,000 properties and “these figures include SOLD properties. Ours do not.”

The figure of available properties could possibly be even lower.

Asked whether the figure might include some doubling up of properties, Home director Doug Shephard said: “We always try to avoid duplicates, but a few will always creep in – ie when the same property is advertised by two different agents at two different prices. It is rare, but it happens.”

Really, I can think of more than a few currently on RM. As to the main story, is there any agent in the country that has not seen stocks drop below normal levels? Our area is 50% below par.
