The new compulsory system of registering and licensing for agents and landlords in Wales is going live on November 23.
Letting agents who need to become licensed will be able to register and apply for licences from this date.
They will have 12 months in which to comply with the new legislation, being brought in under devolved powers.
The new regime, branded Rent Smart Wales, will also involve the compulsory registration of landlords.
Landlords must not only register, but if they want to manage a property, become licensed as well.
If landlords choose not to become licensed, they must use a licensed agent to manage their properties.
The new regime is being administered by Cardiff Council, which says that many letting agents have indicated that they want to comply early, to ensure their client landlords are reassured that they are licensed.
Failure to announce the date of the scheme had been frustrating for both landlords and agents who, until now, have only been told that it would kick in this autumn.
