Estate agency releases third animated feature created by renowned cartoonist

Jackson-Stops has released a new cartoon animation featuring characters created by British cartoonist Annie Tempest as part of the estate agency’s latest marketing campaign.

The animation follows Dicky and Daffy Tottering, characters from Tempest’s long-running Tottering-by-Gently cartoon series, and marks the third film produced through the agency’s collaboration with the artist since 2021.

In the latest instalment, Dicky pilots a helicopter through central London before heading out of the capital, while Daffy travels in a hot air balloon accompanied by her dogs. The film continues the theme of moving between urban and rural locations, reflecting the agency’s presence across both city and country markets.

Jackson-Stops, which operates more than 40 offices across the UK, including four in London, said the animation will form part of its digital advertising activity across social media and other media channels during the coming year.

The project was produced by animator Eliot Wykes of production company Part Human, who worked with Tempest throughout the development process. Wykes has previously worked on animation projects for a range of commercial brands and television productions.

Tempest is best known for Tottering-by-Gently, which has appeared in Country Life since 1993, as well as her earlier cartoon strip, The Yuppies, published in the Daily Mail.

Annie Tempest commented: “Creating a new animation for Jackson-Stops featuring Dicky and Daffy has been enormous fun. This time, Dicky is at the controls, soaring over the City of London, while Daffy drifts peacefully after a near miss with a cricket ball. I particularly love the contrast, and that charming moment when they catch sight of each other and wave as they glide past.”

Nick Leeming, chairman of Jackson-Stops, said: “Annie has translated Dicky and Daffy beautifully into animation once again, and this time they’ve taken to the skies. It’s warm, witty and unmistakably ‘Tottering’, and reflects our ambition to keep raising the bar with imaginative, distinctive campaigns. It also speaks directly to where Jackson-Stops excels, whether in town or country, we pride ourselves on being the national estate agents that locals recommend.”
