PropTech provider Street has launched a new AI product called Cortex, designed to automate a range of estate agency workflows by enabling users to build and deploy AI agents within their existing systems.
The platform sits on top of Street’s CRM and marketing tools and allows agencies to configure AI agents that can carry out tasks across areas including enquiry handling, client communication, marketing activity, sales progression and property management.
According to the company, Cortex has been in development for around six months and is intended to work within existing agency operations rather than as a standalone tool.
Agents can create AI workflows using natural language instructions and assign specific tools and permissions to different tasks. These can then be adjusted over time depending on performance and operational needs.
The system is designed to handle routine administrative and data-driven processes, with the aim of reducing manual workload across day-to-day operations. Street said this could allow agents to focus more on areas such as client relationships, negotiations and deal management.
Unlike traditional add-on tools, Cortex is positioned as an integrated system that executes tasks within an agency’s core software environment, rather than simply supporting users with recommendations or prompts.
The company said the platform is intended to support a shift in how agencies structure their operations, with greater use of automated systems for repetitive tasks and a corresponding change in how staff time is allocated across the business.
Tom Staff, co-founder of Street, said: “There’s a lot of noise around AI at the moment, and much of it is focused on layering new tools onto existing systems. Cortex isn’t an add-on like the many other ‘solutions’ we’re seeing enter the market, it’s a completely new way of running an agency.
“It allows agents to create and deploy AI that actually does the work, not just assist with it, and that has a direct impact on how agencies are structured and how they scale. So for example, Cortex won’t just help you form an appropriate response to a client email, it will receive, write and reply to it. And that’s really just its baseline capabilities, it’s not just capable of more, the possibilities are literally endless.
“We understand that this level of change comes with significant implications for the industry, particularly when it comes to how teams are built and the roles that exist within them. But ultimately, this technology is about enabling agents to spend more time doing the things that truly require a human touch, building relationships, advising clients, and delivering better outcomes.
“It’s a major shift, and one that will effectively rewrite the playbook for estate agency operations. And while that’s a big statement, it’s one that becomes very clear the moment you see Cortex in action.”
