Tenant not included: Agent criticised for listing photo and video featuring sleeping occupant

Picture shows tenant still in bed

A six-bedroom HMO in Penrith has hit the market with a feature rarely mentioned in the particulars: a tenant who’s still in it.

The £145,000 listing includes photos of one room in active use – complete with a figure under the duvet – while the video tour (see below) goes a step further, catching a bleary-eyed resident moving through the property and opening doors for the agent.

Billed by Prime Property Auctions as a “rare, can’t-miss investment chance”, the property offers six lettable rooms, five currently occupied – and, judging by the listing, at least one firmly off-duty.

Prospective buyers browsing the listing were quick to spot the oversight, with the unplanned cameo of the dozing tenant proving more eye-catching than any of the usual selling points.

“I would be ashamed if that were my rental property,” said one person online.

“Jesus that’s actually really sad,” added another commentator. “Poor guy trying to sleep and getting a camera shoved in his private space and published on Rightmove.”

“A prime demonstration that estate agents are in fact demons,” a third person contributed. “What on earth possessed them to include that photo?”

“It’s almost as if they are robbed of all humanity, as well as all logic.”
