Seven arrested after death of young estate agent

Seven people have been arrested following the death of a young estate agent in a multi-vehicle collision on the M25 near Hornchurch.

Aliyah Hoque, 23, from Redbridge, died after a four-vehicle crash at around 7.50pm on Good Friday (3 April). The incident occurred on the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 between junction 29 at Upminster and junction 30 at Aveley in Thurrock.

Six men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 26, along with an 18-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. All seven have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

An inquest into Hoque’s death was opened at East London Coroner’s Court on 17 April.

The collision involved a HGV and three cars, including Ms Hoque’s BMW 1 Series, a Land Rover and a Vauxhall Astra estate.

“Ms Hoque was the only occupant of her vehicle and succumbed to her injuries,” senior coroner Graeme Irvine said. “Information provided by the Metropolitan Police Service was that Ms Hoque’s death is being investigated as part of a wider investigation into dangerous driving due to the actions of other drivers on the road at the same time.”

Det Sgt Ed Rulton, of the Met’s Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family, loved ones and wider community.

“The family, who are being supported by specially trained officers, have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

“Our investigation continues and I would urge anyone with any information or dashcam footage, particularly of any vehicles that may have been driving erratically before the collision,  to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6459/3APR or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”

The full inquest will take place at a later date.
