Outsourced viewing service founded by former estate agent hits major milestone

Viewber, the UK-wide on-demand service for the property industry, has reached a major milestone, completing its 1,000,000th appointment.

Founded in 2016 by former estate agent Ed Mead and his wife Jamie as an assisted viewing service for estate agents, Viewber has since expanded to offer a broad range of services, including property inspections, marketing support, tenant checks, and fire-door compliance.

Early backing from Marcus de Ferranti helped the business scale, and it now employs more than 60 staff, supported by a network of over 5,000 “Viewber Members” who carry out appointments across the country.

Reflecting on the past decade Ed Mead said: “The objective was never to replace what agents, managers, auctioneers, or any of our clients do; it was to make life more efficient for their staff, do more business and cover more geographies 24/7. It was also going to enable local people to earn a little extra money and work when they wanted to.”

Mead says originally, the idea was to handle assisted viewings for estate agents. But following expansion across the property sector, estate agency work now accounts for just 9% of Viewber’s business.

The company has also embraced remote working long before it became widespread, enabling the team to operate virtually while maintaining quality and reliability. Top clients have stayed on for an average of seven years, a reflection of the consistency and trust Viewber has built.

Appointments run every day of the year, with the company completing 50 on Christmas Day alone in 2025.

Appointments have been carried out in every UK postcode except the Outer Hebrides, Isle of Man, and Shetlands. Mead highlights the importance of quality in the field: “We have a strict selection and vetting process for our Viewber Members—only 12% of applicants make the grade.”
