Rugby star buys estate agency in expansion move

Gareth Davies

Estate agency Blackbear, owned by Scarlets scrum-half Gareth Davies, has acquired Tenby-based firm Chandler Rogers for an undisclosed fee, less than 18 months after launching its first branch in Haverfordwest.

The deal marks Blackbear’s third expansion in under a year and a half, with the purchase of the long-established West Wales agency strengthening its presence in the Pembrokeshire market.

Martyn Rogers, director of Chandler Rogers, said: “Chandler Roger’s has always been about trust, service, and local knowledge. From our very first conversations, it was clear that Jamie and the Blackbear team shared those values and had the vision to build on them.”

“This deal ensures that our legacy continues, while opening the door to new opportunities for our clients and community,” he added.

Gareth Davies added: “We love what Chandler Rogers have managed to do over the years in Tenby, as an independent they have not only survived everything from the pandemic to recessions but they have done so in some style while competing with national brands.

“Martyn has been amazing with us and we are so glad we have managed to do the deal that allows Martyn some well earned time off!” continued Gareth.
