Estate agency understood to have closed branches in regional refocus

Chase Buchanan’s acquisition of independent West Drayton estate agency R Whitley & Co last month was overshadowed by rumours of potential redundancies, as revealed exclusively by Property Industry Eye.

At the time, we reported that up to 35 roles could be at risk, amid claims that some staff had been placed into consultation.

Property Industry Eye contacted Chase Buchanan – part of the Champions Group, which also owns Chestertons, Retirement Homesearch, and Campions Lettings and Management – for comment regarding the consultations.

In response, a spokesperson for Chase Buchanan told EYE: “After undertaking a strategic review of its business, Chase Buchanan has announced that it has recently completed the acquisition of R Whitley & Co, an independent estate agency based in West Drayton, and is currently reviewing its wider portfolio.”

It is now reported that Chase Buchanan has closed its branches in the South West of England, as part of a shift to focus exclusively on the London market.

According to the Wiltshire Times, the closures include offices in Trowbridge, Melksham, Bristol, and Bath.

All four branches have been removed from the Chase Buchanan website, which now lists only its London locations.

EYE has contacted Champions Group for an update and further comment.
