Former deputy prime minister and housing secretary Angela Rayner will speak at the Propertymark One conference this summer, organisers have confirmed.
As Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Rayner has overseen significant changes to legislation affecting the private rented sector, including the Renters’ Rights Act and the Planning and Infrastructure Act, alongside a target to deliver 1.5 million new homes in England during the current parliamentary term.
Her address comes amid ongoing reforms across the housing sector, with regulatory and legislative change remaining a central focus for property professionals.
Jason Lee, head of commercial at Propertymark, commented: “Angela Rayner is one of the most pivotal figures in UK politics and housing policy today, and we are delighted to welcome her to Propertymark One. Her influence on the national conversation around housing, communities and opportunity has been profound, and her career journey resonates with many across the sector.
“Having a political leader of her profile and experience address our conference underlines the scale and importance of Propertymark One within the industry. It represents a significant moment for agents to hear from someone who has helped shape the direction of housing at the highest level of government.”
Propertymark also recently confirmed that TV presenter Lara Lewington will speak at its Propertymark One Conference on 12 June at ExCeL London.
Lewington, who works as a journalist and documentary maker focusing on technology, artificial intelligence and health innovation, co-presents the BBC programme Click.
News of Lewington’s planned appearance came after the announcement that broadcaster and journalist Daisy McAndrew will return as a speaker at the conference.
McAndrew has previously spoken at Propertymark One conferences and will again take part in the programme, contributing to sessions covering political, economic and industry issues relevant to the property sector.
The conference, which will bring together property professionals from across the UK to discuss current challenges and developments in the housing market, including affordability, regulatory change and wider economic conditions, will also welcome Karren Brady as the keynote speaker.

A renowned business executive, football leader and television personality, Brady is best known to millions as Lord Alan Sugar’s straight-talking aide on BBC’s The Apprentice. At Propertymark One, she will share her insights, experiences and lessons from a career spanning business, sport, and media.
Brady’s impressive career includes becoming the first female managing director of Birmingham City FC at just 23, and her current role as vice-chair of West Ham United. She also serves as a member of the House of Lords and as a government Small Business Ambassador.
Propertymark One 2026 is set to be the organisation’s biggest event yet, expanding by 50% with a main stage, two additional stages, and more breakout zones to create extra opportunities for delegates to connect, learn, and be inspired.

Former housing secretaries to give evidence on leasehold reform

A huge mis-step, from an organisation that promotes integrity.

I hope she’s swotted up on tax and property law before she speaks!

Unbelievable to bring this biased failure to such an event. I would not trust Rayners integrity or insights in any shape or form.
However Karen Brady is a successful class act proven her worth & respect.
Might be best for Rayner to seek her advice. Incidentally wonder how much is Rayner being paid for her cabaret act ?

Just cancelled my ticket! I mean what on earth are the organizers thinking? Last thing I want to travel down to London for is to see her smug face.

If Propertymark are trying to be controversial, then they have certainly succeeded. However, I feel this is a big mistake from an organisation that holds estate agents to account for standards and then invites someone who has a complete disregard for standards, laws and taxation rules and then pays her to speak. A rethink is required here, as this questions those in Propertymark on their ability to read the room.

PropertyMark – agree with above post as I thought they represent agents but why o why bringing in a complete failure to address the audience.
Mind you have noted ProperlyMark advertising for new candidates for its board assuming the current board like Rayner have no idea.
Woa betide anyone not submitting their clients report on time !
You couldn’t make this up.

We should insist they cancel her or boycott the day. Its embarrassing to be linked to her even in the smallest way and as above, will damage our reputation once the true press get hold of this.

Photographed in front of the Union Jack Flag (How do I get a smiley emoji?) Just cancel her now as she will bring disrespect to the Property mark association.

Oh, Look! Integrity! (Wait, No, My Mistake.)
PropertyMark, an organization that claims to represent its members has—shockingly—decided to represent literally anyone else instead. Who could have predicted that after the romantic candlelit dinner with Rightmove, Propertymark would find their next “soulmate” in a Tax Evader?
The Propertymark Guide to Member Relations:
1: Collect membership fees with a straight face.
2: Use those fees to fund a VIP lounge for the very people making your members’ lives harder.
3: Act surprised when the people paying your wages aren’t thrilled about being sold down the river.
It’s not “betrayal,” it’s strategic agility. It takes a special kind of talent to pivot from “industry advocate” to “corporate cheerleader” this quickly. Truly, their commitment to being “classic turncoats” is the only consistent thing about them. Give them a round of applause—preferably while they’re busy checking their offshore accounts.

I was considering attending the conference using the “free” ticket included with Company Advantage, but have no desire to listen to a speaker who actively lobbies against my industry.

I was about to purchase tickets for my team and will certainly not be now.
Appalling decision to have her as a guest. Seriously considering whether to renew membership.

I doubt that she’ll appear – she’ll cry off.
Starmer is in serious trouble as PM with a terrible by-election result yesterday where he blocked their best chance candidate from standing to protect his position – Labour will be wiped out at the local and regional elections in May (that he tried to stop) and a leadership contest will ensue.
Step forward Angela Rayner who will then be too busy to attend PM1.
