Well-established property firm enters administration

Housebuilder and property management company Calmont Homes has gone into administration.

The business is part of the wider Calmont Group, established in 1995, which operates across Scotland and England with offices in Scotland, the North East and the South East.

Shaun Hudson and Allan Kelly of FRP Advisory Trading have been appointed as joint administrators.

The appointment comes amid continued pressure in the SME housing sector.

The Home Builders Federation recently reported that 97% of small and medium-sized developers said tax and regulatory burdens would constrain housebuilding this year, while 94% identified difficulties in securing planning permission as a significant obstacle.

Last week London-based family-run housebuilder Jerram Falkus Construction entered administration, bringing more than 140 years of trading to an end.
