Letting agency owner and estate agent feature on The Apprentice 2026

Lord Sugar returns to the boardroom as The Apprentice marks its 20th series on the BBC in 2026.

He will be joined by Baroness Karren Brady CBE and Tim Campbell MBE as 20 candidates, including two agents, compete for his £250,000 investment and mentorship.

Across 12 episodes, starting today at 9pm on BBC1, Lord Sugar and his advisors will assess the candidates, narrowing the field to find the entrepreneur who will secure the investment and the opportunity to grow their business under his guidance.

London-based estate agent Kieran McCartney is among the candidates competing for investment, along with Andrea Cooper, a letting agency owner from Barnsley.

Andrea Cooper

Letting agency owner Andrea Cooper is hoping she can secure an investment from Lord Sugar to develop a software system which manages short-term accommodation.

This is what she told the BBC ahead of the new series of The Apprentice:

What is your business plan?

I run a property lettings business and I want to build on that. My business plan is to develop a software system to manage short term accommodation, making it simpler for both landlords and tenants. I’m looking for Lord Sugar’s investment to help achieve my goals and get this idea off the ground.

What makes you a unique candidate?

I am 46, mother of five, grandmother of one and manage and run effectively two businesses in Barnsley. I successfully achieved a midwifery first class honours degree when I was 40, whilst juggling two businesses and running a family. I am hard working, resilient and will give anything a go.

Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?

Lord Sugar is interested in property businesses like me and I feel he will be interested in a business where there is a gap in the market. My proven track record can evidence that I am willing to put my whole into something that will work, and he will not regret taking me on as I am honest, a realist and will say it how it is. No beating around the bush! I have years of life experience behind me which most other candidates lack.

How would those who know. you, best describe you?

People would describe me as caring, kind, helpful, honest and would do anything for anyone. But crossed once then that’s it, no more chances. I am not a pushover.

Kieran McCartney

The estate agent, based in East London, told show organisers that he wants to get Lord Sugar’s investment for his own estate agency.

This is what he told the BBC:

What is your business plan?

For the past ten years, I’ve been matching people with their dream homes and negotiating like a pro. I know the property game inside out, the wins, the pressure, and the graft it takes to succeed. But now it’s time to stop building someone else’s business and start building my own. With Lord Sugar’s investment, I can put a decade of experience, hustle and personality into a venture that has my name written all over it and prove I’m worth every penny.

What makes you a unique candidate?

My 10 years’ as an estate agent have equipped me with a strong set of distinctive sales skills that truly make me stand out. My experience has taught me how to communicate effectively, understand clients’ needs, and tailor my approach to every situation. This personalised style not only helps me close deals but also allows me to build long-lasting relationships. As a result, many of my clients return to me year after year, demonstrating the value of the trust and rapport I create.

Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?

I have worked tirelessly over the years to build a strong and loyal client base, offering one of the best estate agency services in and around London. My dedication, experience, and reputation allow me to understand the market deeply and deliver exceptional results. Estate agents often suffer from a poor reputation, but together we can change that. By combining my industry expertise with Lord Sugar’s guidance and resources, we can set a new standard for trust and professionalism.

How would those who know you, best describe you?

People often describe me as a hungry, motivated, and super positive – a person who consistently goes above and beyond for his clients and his friends. I take pride in approaching every opportunity with enthusiasm, dedication, and a strong desire to grow. Whether I am supporting a client, collaborating with a team, or contributing to community efforts, I bring a positive attitude and a willingness to put in the extra work. My commitment to building strong relationships and delivering exceptional results reflects the values I strive to embody every day, both personally and professionally.
