Generation Rent, the lobbying group, has raised just over a quarter of the £60,000 it needs.
The organisation, which had its funding pulled by the Nationwide Foundation, by yesterday had raised £15,781 from 301 supporters.
It now has under five days left to meet its funding target.
The organisation has, however, been given a separate cache of money by Joseph Rowntree Foundation to use in a campaign for rent controls in London.
