SLC Property appoints Martin Farrington as new chair
SLC Property, a national property consultancy providing a wide range of land and planning services, has announced the appointment of Martin Farrington as its new chair, effective from 1 November.
Farrington has worked in local government for 35 years and was the director of City Development at Leeds City Council. His work included leading the second-largest local planning authority in the UK, regularly dealing with more than 4,500 applications every year.
Farrington said: “The company [SLC Property] has a strong reputation for building excellent stakeholder relationships and supporting clients with specialised property advice. I’m looking forward to drawing on my years of property and regeneration experience to support the board as it grows and diversifies into new sectors.”
Russell Mills, MD of SLC Property said: “We are excited to welcome Martin as chair of SLC Property. His experience and wider connections will be extremely useful as he guides the board through a period of building and diversifying the business.”
Norris, previously appointed the minister for local growth and democracy, replaces Ali after she was forced to quit the building safety minister’s role and brief following criticism for attending a conference sponsored by a firm related to the Grenfell disaster.
Norris has experience in building safety before the Labour government came to power, having served as the shadow fire minister.
During a debate on building safety and resilience last month, Norris said: “We will demand responsibility for building safety—responsibility from this government and responsibility across the industry”.
