So here was the story that wasn’t quite true

We are sure you spotted yesterday’s April Fool.

But just in case you didn’t, it was of course the story that agents would have to pay for translation into Welsh when dealing with Powys County Council.

Sharp eyes will have seen an addendum to the story at noon, that officials had (apparently) withdrawn the requirement.

So, apologies to Trevor Kent who was nearly fooled into writing an angry letter to his MP before he spotted the date.

We should, however, emphasise that unlikely as it may seem, Powys Council really has taken over responsibility for the regulation of estate agents as of yesterday.

It is also the case that most agents will have received a letter from HMRC saying that it has taken over responsibility for estate agents in relation to money laundering as of yesterday, although it hasn’t yet got round to putting up guidance online.
