Ex-policeman jailed for valuations scam

A former policeman who ran a valuations scam has been jailed for three years.

Glyn Keatley, who served in the South Yorkshire police force between 1977 and 1984, ran a business, Anglian Holdings.

He persuaded his victims to pay for valuations on their properties on the promise that they would get mortgages at good rates.

Altogether the fraud totalled £31,577.

When victims expressed concern, he told them that one of his sons had died and another son injured in an accident.

York Crown Court heard that unknown to his customers, Keatley had been convicted in New York of similar offences.

He had flown to Tenerife in 2010 but was extradited back to Britain earlier this year.

Keatley pleaded guilty last month to ten counts of fraud.

Sentencing him, the judge told Keatley that his remorse was “only skin deep”.

DS Andy Kenyon from the Major Fraud Investigation Team at North Yorkshire Police, said afterwards that people like Keatley needed to be brought to justice and he was satisfied this had been done in court.

“Keatley is a deceitful individual who unlawfully obtained large amounts of money from innocent people,” he said.

“It is good news that he will spend time behind bars for the fraud he has committed.”

For the life of me I simply cannot believe what I have read there.

And you can’t blame dyslexic digits or a departing train for THIS most ridiculous of comments, Sir – that is plain old you and one Hell of a Ratner Moment to look back on.

YET AGAIN you tarnish the three different parties you are seen to represent with what you say and how you say it.

Say what you want in YOUR name.

Say what you want in your ORGANISATION’S name.  Your ‘Members’ can then decide whether they want to be associated with such comments.

BUT LEAVE THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY OUT OF IT.  Post unadulterated cr@p like this elsewhere, well away from where the public will associate it with the industry.

We have a hard enough time as it is.

Considering the resources available, I wouldn’t be surprised if the old bill and family soon have his car registration number.

What a STUPID comment to make. I would even go so far as to say Trevor you just left yourself open for slander, I do hope you have deep pockets. For one who is always preaching about rules and regulations and professional conduct, you let yourself down.

Whats the world coming to if you can’t find an honest fraudster 😉

I’m sure that you are simply trying to recover a situation by pouring some humour on it, smile please – but even I, who loves a laugh as much if not more than the rest, cannot raise the faintest of smiles at that one.

Good try, though, under very challenging circumstances.  Thanks for the effort.

The real shame is you had to go to the trouble in the first place…

Sorry PeeBee there are many articles out there about bent coppers. There’s good and bad in all trades. Fact is bent coppers often have better insight into how to bend the rules. Fortunately, good coppers took the bad out.

Why direct your “apology” to ME, Mr Mealham?  I picked this up FIVE HOURS after ‘Woodentop’.  You do not seem to be bothered by ‘his’ post telling you how stupid your comment was.

This post has done nothing to allow you to clamber out of the hole you dug yourself.

Best you leave it there, I suggest.  Let it slink into the archive and deny all knowledge.  Say you were hacked – some people believe any drivel they read.
