Hamptons has acquired specialist short lets firm Wimbledon Accommodation, which provides places to stay for players during the tennis tournament, boosting its short-term lettings offer in the process.
Wimbledon Accommodation, which specialise in letting superior accommodation during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, launched in 1999.
The company has provided accommodation for a long list of well-known tennis stars, champions, as well as tournament officials and the press.
The acquisition will see the owners of the firm, David and Janet Thurtell, work with Hamptons until after of the 2023 tournament in June. The couple will work with the agency on a consultancy basis thereafter.
Cat Westerling, head of letting at Hamptons, commented: “Hamptons has served its large and loyal customer base in the Wimbledon area since 1869 and already operates a strong short lets business from the local branch.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to acquire, and partner with, Wimbledon Accommodation Ltd having recognised the strong synergies between our two businesses. With each placing care and discretion, attention to detail and exceptional service at the heart of all we do, this felt like an ideal match from the outset.
“The acquisition strengthens Hamptons short term rental business in Wimbledon, whilst offering customers of Wimbledon Accommodation Ltd access to an even wider choice of occupant and/or property through the championships via Hamptons 90- plus branch UK network and 7,000 international affiliate partners.”
