Chestertons has appointed Peter Goldsmith to its board. He has 52 years’ experience in the property industry.
The newnon-executive director of Chestertons, he is a fellow of the RICS and previously sat on the Humberts board. He set up his own business, Sinclair Goldsmith, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1987.
Last year he launched a consultancy, Peter Goldsmith LLP, which offers advice to property investors across the world.
Robert Bartlett, group CEO of Chestertons, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Peter. This is a fabulous coup for our business, and we know that he will be a hugely valuable asset to the company as we consolidate our position at the top end of the London residential market.
“Peter is renowned as a truly forward-thinking expert in our industry – a genuine pioneer – which makes him an ideal fit for Chestertons’ proactive attitude.”
Meanwhile franchise firm Martin & Co has also made a heavyweight appointment.
Phil Crooks FCA becomes a non-executive director of the company and chair of its audit committee with immediate effect.
Crooks is currently a partner in forensic and investigations services at Grant Thornton UK LLP. He was previously UK head of audit for six years and a member of the International Assurance Advisory Board at Grant Thornton UK LLP.
He has worked with a wide range of listed and private international companies in a variety of sectors.
Richard Martin, chairman of MartinCo PLC, said: “We are delighted to welcome Phil to our board. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and will further strengthen the board as we continue to focus the company on becoming the largest property franchisor in the UK.”
Martin & Co currently operates 286 offices and five franchise brands. Although originally a lettings specialist, it added estate agency in 2013 and this service is offered at 243 offices.
It floated on the AIM stock market in late 2013. While it appears already to operate the largest franchise operation, LSL is the largest property firm that operates both franchises and owned offices.
