Estate agency owner makes Rich List for first time

Paul Rooney, who owns south-east estate agency chain Arun Estates, has made it into the Sunday Times Rich List for the first time.

Rooney, 67, comes in at 856 with an estimated wealth of £110m.

Also in the Rich List again is Foxtons founder (and eventual seller) Jon Hunt in 88th place with an estimated fortune of £1.186bn, up £116m on last year.

Owen Oyston, who sold an estate agency chain, is – like Rooney – at 856 in the list at £110m.

Oystons Estate Agents was the largest family-owned estate agents in Britain in the mid-eighties and sold sold for £37m to an insurance company in 1987.

Buy-to-let landlords Judith and Fergus Wilson are listed at 968 with an estimated worth of £100m.

However, there is no sign of Alex Chesterman in Sunday’s new list.

The Zoopla founder made the list for the first time last year with a fortune estimated at £100m which is the cut-off point for the 1,000 wealthiest people in Britain.
